Qualification Specifications

This qualification reflects the roles of individuals working as developing and emergingleaders and managers in a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

As well as assuming responsibility for their own performance, individuals at this level provide leadership,guidance and support to others. They also have some responsibility for organising and monitoring the output of their team. They apply solutions to a defined range of predictable and unpredictable problems and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must consider the following:

  • Good understanding of English
  • Candidates must have a minimum year 11 Secondary School or equivalent
  • Candidates must be over 18 years of age
  • Must have a valid USI
  • Training and assessment is classroom and/or workplace based, using evidence from the workplace.
  • Candidates must meet the literacy and numeracy benchmarks. Candidates must be able to read, write and speak English proficiently and have adequate skills at a level that enables you to as a minimum:
  • Analyse and evaluate textual information from a range of sources to inform communication processes
  • Plan and prepare workplace documentation for relevant stakeholders according to organisational formats
  • Participate in a variety of spoken exchanges with a range of audiences using structure and language to suit the audience
  • Use analytical processes to identify potential problems and generate solutions

Pathways into the Qualification

This qualification may be accessed by direct entry, or entry may also be gained through BSB30120 Certificate III in Business (not offered by RTT Academy), after completing a minimum of 3 years in the workplace. REMA TIP TOP employees are offered the opportunity to undertake this course as part of their professional development plan.

Pathways from the Qualification

The pathways available to learners who undertake this qualification include the Diploma of Leadership and Management or a range of other diploma qualifications., (not delivered by WILA)

Theory Component

Assessment

Assessments will include (but not limited to):

  • Ongoing (formative) assessment in the classroom and on-the-job such as:
  • Direct questioning or conversation
  • Observation of skills
  • Written question/answer
  • Scenarios, role plays
  • Summative component for each unit where Assessor will assess:
  • Project presentation
  • Workplace portfolio of evidence
  • Case studies
  • Third party – supervisor report

Course Duration

  • Between 6 – 12 months for those currently employed in the industry (shorter-duration as it builds on existing skills and knowledge)

Typically, the learning would be completed over 600 – 2400 hours.

Participants may complete the program earlier than these timelines through achievement of RPL or Credit Transfer

  • BSBOPS402 Coordinate business operational plans
  • BSBXCM401 Apply communication strategies in the workplace
  • BSBXTW401 Lead and facilitate a team

 

Seven (7) elective units of competency, as specified below.

• four (4) units must be selected from Group A

• For the remaining 3 elective units: up to 3 units may be selected from Groups A and B
